Bac Giang Prepares for Two Large-scale Urban Service and Tourism Areas
Bac Giang province in Vietnam is gearing up to develop two urban service and tourism areas covering nearly 17,000 hectares. The provincial People’s Committee has recently approved the planning tasks for Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the Chu urban area.
Zone 1: Ecological Service and Industrial Urban Area
Located in the southern part of the Chu urban area, Zone 1 will be an ecological service and industrial urban area. It will encompass the natural areas of the My An, Nam Duong, and Phuong Son communes in the Luc Ngan district of Bac Giang province. The research boundary is defined by the Chuc town, Quy Son commune, and Dong Hung commune in the Luc Ngan district, as well as the Tan Moc commune, Truong Giang commune, and Vo Tranh commune in the Luc Nam district. The planning area covers approximately 6,805 hectares, with an estimated population of 46,000 by 2045.
The focus of this zone is to develop cultural, ecological, and leisure tourism. It will also serve as a logistics hub for transportation services, warehousing, and export-related industries in the eastern region of Bac Giang province. Additionally, it will promote high-quality agricultural production while preserving the natural landscape, cultural traditions, and traditional crafts of the Chu urban area.
Zone 2: Agricultural-Ecological, Tourism, and Central Service Area
Zone 2 will be an agricultural-ecological, tourism, and central service area. It will cover approximately 10,115 hectares and is projected to have a population of around 160,000 by 2045. The area includes the central and eastern parts of the Chu urban area, including the Chu town, Quy Son commune, Tru Huu commune, Thanh Hai commune, and Hong Giang commune. The boundaries connect with Kien Lao commune, Kien Thanh commune, and the agricultural areas of Thanh Hai commune to the north, Highway 31 and Phuong Son commune, and the Luc Nam River to the south, and Giap Son commune, Tan Quang commune, and Tan Lap commune in Luc Ngan district to the east. To the west, it borders Dong Hung commune in Luc Nam district.
This zone aims to expand the existing urban area and is closely linked to commercial services, ecotourism, and high-quality agricultural production. It will serve as the political, economic, cultural, educational, and healthcare center of the Chu urban area. Zone 2 is divided into three subzones, with a combined structural network serving these areas. The planning approach includes reducing the number of public facilities along the main roads and relocating urban and residential centers deeper into the urban functional areas to alleviate traffic congestion on Highway 31 and DT.290B.
Efforts will be made to preserve and prioritize the use of land for agriculture in the newly developed areas, while utilizing the natural landscape of Bau Lay Lake, Lang Thum Lake for tourism and ecological urban development. Existing central areas will also undergo improvements and infrastructure upgrades.
Bac Giang province has made significant strides in the development of the Chu urban area. With the approval of the urban development program until 2045, the Chu urban area aims to achieve the criteria of a fourth-class urban area by 2024 and eventually become a city directly under the administration of Bac Giang province by 2045.
In summary, Bac Giang province is embarking on the development of two large-scale urban areas, promoting ecological tourism, industrial services, and high-quality agriculture. These initiatives will not only stimulate economic growth but also preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Chu urban area, attracting visitors and investors alike.
