Building Schools and Commercial Centers in Industrial Parks
Bình Dương province in Vietnam is prioritizing industrial parks and gradually improving supporting infrastructure such as schools, commercial areas, and entertainment venues to create an ecosystem that attracts investors.
The industrial hub in the Southeast region of Vietnam is transitioning from an industrial-service-agricultural model to an industrial-service-urban model. As part of this transition, the province is constructing an integrated model of industrial-service-urban areas. Industrial parks will be closely linked with urban areas, commercial centers, high-quality entertainment venues, residential areas, and resettlement areas. The development of comprehensive technical and social infrastructure into a complete ecosystem is seen as a strategic approach to attracting both domestic and foreign investment.
According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuan, CEO of Becamex IDC, foreign investors, especially those from the US and EU, are highly interested in sustainable areas. The surrounding ecosystem of an industrial park, including the education system, healthcare facilities, housing for workers, and amenities for daily life, is considered a crucial factor. Business leaders believe that in order to attract major investors, industrial parks in Bình Dương need to upgrade to a new standard that meets the demands of the current era.
To promote business and investment opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises, Bình Dương is planning to develop an additional 15 industrial parks covering a total area of 10,200 hectares. In the immediate future, the province prioritizes completing industrial parks such as Bau Bang, Cay Truong, and VSIP III. The province is also upgrading and expanding important transportation routes such as National Highway 13, Belt Road 3, Belt Road 4, and other roads to improve connectivity within the region and the key economic zone in the South.
Bình Dương is one of the most urbanized provinces in Vietnam, with 82% of its territory classified as urban, including 4 cities and 1 town. It is also one of the leading industrial production and FDI attraction destinations in the country. The province currently has 64,631 domestic enterprises with a total investment capital of 702 trillion VND. It has also attracted over 4,100 FDI projects from 65 countries, with a total investment capital of 40.2 billion USD.
According to investors, the strengths of Bình Dương province in the Southeast region are its well-planned development, continuous construction and improvement of infrastructure. The province always aims to connect with the key economic zone in the South through routes such as National Highway 13 and My Phuoc – Tan Van. The industrial parks are designed to be modern, high-quality, and have a complete and sustainable ecosystem.
Currently, the province has 29 operating industrial parks with an occupancy rate of over 91%, which is among the highest in the country. In the future, Bình Dương aims to attract scientific and technological industries that bring high added value. The province also plans to build an industrial park specializing in science and technology as part of the “Smart City” project.
