Business Today: Nearly 14 trillion VND Invested in Connecting Vung Tau City Center with Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway

The construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway project began in June 2023 and spans a total length of 53.7km, passing through the provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau. Of this, the section through Dong Nai province is over 34km long, while the section through Ba Ria-Vung Tau is 19.7km.

The project is divided into three components: Component 1, with a length of 16km, is managed by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee; Component 2, with a length of 18.2km, is managed by the Ministry of Transport; and Component 3, with a length of 19.5km, is managed by the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial People’s Committee.

The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway is a crucial infrastructure project that not only connects Dong Nai with Ba Ria – Vung Tau, but also has a significant impact on the regional transportation network.

Once completed, this expressway will alleviate the heavy traffic on National Highway 51, which is currently frequently congested. The project will also directly connect to the entrance road of Long Thanh International Airport, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, and the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway.

Currently, Component 3 of the expressway, which passes through Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, is progressing smoothly. It is expected to be completed three months ahead of schedule.

To facilitate convenient travel between the center of Vung Tau City and the end point of the expressway, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has approved the investment plan for a connecting road with a total investment capital of over 13.9 trillion VND.

This connecting road has a total length of nearly 16.5km and is divided into three projects. The first project runs from the intersection with National Highway 56 (Bà Rịa City) to the Vung Van roundabout (Long Dien District). It spans a length of 6.71km and includes urban expressway and parallel roads, with an investment capital of 6.7 trillion VND.

The second project runs from the Vung Van roundabout to the Vung Tau-Binh Thuan Coastal Road (DT 994), in the area of Ward 12 (Vung Tau City). It spans a length of over 6.8km and includes urban expressway and parallel roads, with an approved budget of nearly 5.2 trillion VND.

The third project runs from the intersection with the DT994 coastal road to the end point of the connection to the 2/9 Road (Vung Tau City). This project is part of the main route project in Vung Tau (from the DT994 intersection to the 2/9 Road, 570m away from Cua Lap roundabout). It spans a length of 2.87km and has an investment capital of nearly 2 trillion VND.

Once this road is completed, residents and visitors from the end point of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway will be able to travel conveniently and quickly to reach the city center.

The Project Management Board for transportation in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has reported that the three localities affected by the project (Vung Tau City, Long Dien District, and Ba Ria City) have completed the evaluation of land, housing, and other assets affected by the project.
