The event “Greetings from Ocean City” held at Grand World in early March exceeded the organizers’ expectations, with 300 attendees from the Korean community in Hanoi. People didn’t want to miss the opportunity to participate in this event. Throughout the six-hour program, various activities took place, leaving the guests astonished.

Kim Hyun Gon, a Korean IT engineer who has been in Vietnam for five years, arrived early at this “city destination” in East Hanoi. Even when the program ended, he didn’t want to leave. Kim Hyun Gon expressed his admiration for the living space created by the developer, which made him feel like he was in his homeland and sparked his intention to settle there.

Comparing Ocean City with leading cities in South Korea, Chang Eun Sook, the President of the Korean Association in Vietnam, sees many similarities. She believes that just like the new cities in South Korea, Ocean City will become a vital center for various areas such as economy, culture, and education, where Koreans and Vietnamese can live together harmoniously.

The Korean visitors’ sentiment is understandable, especially when it comes to K-Town, the heart of Grand World. With an area of 6.5 hectares, K-Town resembles a painting that combines various architectural styles. It recreates K-Legend neighborhoods with traditional elements and intertwines them with K-Street, which exudes a youthful and modern spirit. At first glance, it is clear that this is the “land of oppas” with its welcoming gate, mascots, and iconic Korean characters. It has become a place that has inspired numerous viral social media photos.

K-Town is not only immersed in Korean spirit but also thrives on cultural events regularly held there. The main hub is a 1.2-hectare square, featuring the national flower of Korea and an artistic light display area that promises to host remarkable programs.

The “K-Day in K-Town” festival held in November 2023 is a perfect example of this. Thousands of young people had the rare opportunity to dress up as Korean movie stars in traditional Hanbok costumes. They also had hands-on experiences such as cooking Korean dishes and enjoying traditional games from both Vietnam and South Korea. This event further strengthens K-Town’s position as a center for Hallyu, the Korean Wave, in the coming years.

Superior Facilities Attract the Korean Community to “Go East”

There are currently over 200,000 Koreans living and working in Vietnam, with approximately one-fourth of them residing in Hanoi. Notably, this community has been growing rapidly, leading to the emergence of numerous Korean neighborhoods in inner districts such as Thanh Xuan, Nam Tu Liem, and Bac Tu Liem. However, the combination of Korean-style architecture and facilities at K-Town in Grand World is increasingly enticing Koreans to “go east” to Hanoi.

K-Town at Grand World is appealing to the Korean community for two reasons. Firstly, it provides an ideal living environment, and secondly, it offers unparalleled business opportunities through its authentic and upscale Korean-style facilities. The district is planned with a wide range of businesses following the “golden ratio,” catering to diverse groups of customers including children, teenagers, middle-aged, and elderly individuals. Popular Korean brands, especially those related to beauty care, spas, cosmetics, and cuisine, are present here.

In the future, the commercial districts within K-Town Grand World will resemble famous Korean destinations such as Myeongdong Night Market, the culinary and art street of Hongdae, the cosmopolitan Iteawon, and the wealthy Keangnam neighborhood. These elements will not only remind Korean passport holders of their homeland but also become a highlight for tourists who want to experience a luxurious style on their visits to Hanoi.

As a part of Grand World, the vibrant life in K-Town is also stimulated by the activities in other districts. Many trading hubs have officially opened since the end of last year, hosting hundreds of famous domestic and international brands and attracting tens of thousands of regular visitors each week.

Grand World is likened to an “entertainment universe” and also serves as the venue for upscale international events. Alongside those, there are regular cultural and artistic programs that offer appealing experiences. The highlights include The Grand Voyage, a live-action show; European concerts; performances along the Venice-inspired riverfront; and nightly fireworks.

The multicultural diversity and Korean-standard convenience provided by Grand World make it an irresistible magnet for the Korean community, encouraging them to relocate to East Hanoi in increasing numbers.
