Construction of a 10 trillion VND Bridge connecting Me Linh district and Dan Phuong district set to commence

The city of Hanoi has unveiled its plans to focus on urban infrastructure development along the banks of the Red River between the years 2023 and 2025. As part of this initiative, construction of the Hong Ha Bridge will begin. This bridge is a crucial component of the Belt Road 4 – Capital Region project.

The Hong Ha Bridge and its accompanying 6km road will require an estimated investment of around 9.8 trillion VND. Construction is scheduled to commence in October 2024 and is anticipated to be completed within three years.

According to the project plan, the northern part of the bridge will be located in Van Khe commune, Me Linh district, while the southern part will be situated in Hong Ha commune, Dan Phuong district. The Hong Ha Bridge intersects with Hong Ha Road, passing by Gia Le Pagoda and situated between Lien Hong Secondary School and Bong Lai hamlet.

Initially, the feasibility study for the Hong Ha Bridge proposed a width of 17.5m (cross-section). However, this was later revised to 24.5m to accommodate four lanes of motorized traffic, with a separate lane allocated for motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles.

The Belt Road 4 – Capital Region project spans 112.8km, passing through Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Bac Ninh, with a provisional investment of 85.8 trillion VND. Once completed, this infrastructure will significantly reduce travel times and enhance trade connectivity for the western region of Hanoi and its neighboring provinces.

The project is scheduled to commence in 2022, with construction beginning in June 2023. It is expected to be completed by 2026 and operational by 2027.
