Cường Đô la Becomes the First Vietnamese to Participate in the Gumball 3000
A month ago, Gumball 3000, the world’s largest supercar rally, announced their plans to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a journey through four ASEAN countries, starting from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This news quickly caught the attention of car enthusiasts nationwide.
In recent days, the online community has discovered photos and video clips on Gumball 3000’s official Facebook page, showing two Ferrari models, the SF90 Spider and 296 GTB, cruising the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The SF90 Spider is owned by entrepreneur Nguyen Quoc Cuong, popularly known as Cuong Do La.
Cuong Do La also shared a photo with Maximillion Cooper, the founder of Gumball 3000, along with an announcement that he is the first Vietnamese participant in the rally.
To be part of the rally, new participants are required to pay an entry fee of £80,000 (approximately 2.5 billion VND). They must also provide evidence of their involvement in racing and sports car-related activities.
This substantial investment demonstrates Cuong Do La’s passion for the world of supercars, comparable to the listed price of a luxury SUV in Vietnam, such as the BMW X3 (ranging from 2.299 to 2.629 billion VND).
Gumball 3000 was first organized in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, with a vision that combines cars, music, fashion, and popular culture.
Each year, the rally’s location changes. In 2024, Gumball 3000 is scheduled to take place from September 14th to 22nd, starting in Ho Chi Minh City and ending in Singapore. The original plan was to include a stop at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, but due to conflicts in the Gaza Strip and the Red Sea in the Middle East, this route had to be adjusted.
Gumball 3000 is considered the world’s largest supercar rally, bringing together hundreds of supercars to cover a distance of thousands of kilometers. The event also incorporates activities such as movies, music, and more. This year’s rally will conclude with spectators watching the Singapore Grand Prix F1 race.
Currently, the online community is hopeful that other notable entrepreneurs, such as Pham Tran Nhat Minh, famous for his McLaren Elva and Pagani Huayra; Hoang Kim Khanh, owner of a Koenigsegg Regera and McLaren Senna; and Dang Le Nguyen Vu, with an impressive collection of cars in Vietnam, will also participate in this remarkable and exciting event.
