Exciting Changes in the Car of the Year 2024 Awards
The Car of the Year Awards has undergone significant changes in its fourth year. The selection criteria now focus on vehicles priced below 3 billion VND, making it more accessible to the majority of consumers. As a result, previous winners like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class will no longer be eligible for the prestigious award.
Reorganizing Vehicle Segments
In addition to the price limit, the awards have also reorganized the vehicle segments based on their price range and body type. The segments now include low-ground clearance vehicles (sedans, hatchbacks, with a ground clearance under 160mm), high-ground clearance vehicles (CUVs, SUVs, MPVs), and pickups.

Updated Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria for this year’s awards have also been updated with eight specific categories. These categories include exterior design, interior design and materials, performance and driving experience, safety, energy efficiency and environmental impact, total cost of ownership, comfort and convenience, as well as innovation and creativity.

Two Phases of Evaluation
Similar to previous years, the Car of the Year 2024 Awards will have two evaluation phases. In the first phase (from March 6th to 16th), consumers will vote for their top three vehicles in each segment. At the same time, the judging panel will also select their top three vehicles in each segment. From the combined results of the consumer and panel votes, the organizing committee will determine the winners in each segment based on a 50:50 ratio.
Final Evaluation and Car of the Year
In the second phase (from March 18th to 20th), the judging panel will evaluate the vehicles launched in 2023 and determine the winners from the first phase. The organizing committee will consider the consumer results from the first phase and announce the final winners based on the total scores.
The Car of the Year Award is the first of its kind in Vietnam. Additionally, there are two other major automotive awards in the Vietnamese market: the Car Awards and the Car Choice Awards.
