Fire breaks out at Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plant
In a recent statement on Telegram, it was revealed that a fire is currently raging at Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plant. The emergency forces, along with engineers, are working tirelessly at the site to control the situation.
Ukrhydroenergo, the company operating the power plant, assured that the situation at the dam has been brought under control and there is no risk of it bursting.
The Dnieper hydropower plant stands as Ukraine’s largest of its kind. However, amidst the ongoing turmoil, it has become a target for attacks. During the night of March 21st, unmanned drones and cruise missiles were allegedly launched into Ukraine by the Russian military. An aerial strike warning was issued throughout Ukraine for a period of four hours.
At least eight rocket attacks have been recorded in the city of Zaporizhzhia. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Russian military has launched over 60 unmanned aerial vehicles and nearly 90 missiles of various types. Zelensky emphasized to international partners that unlike Western aid packages to Ukraine, the Russian missiles show no signs of delay.
“Drones do not delay like some politicians. It is important to understand the cost of delay and the implications of postponed decisions. The Patriot air defense system needs to protect Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia,” Zelensky stated.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
