Ford and UAW Reach Local Labor Deal to Prevent Strike at Kentucky Plant

Ford Super Duty trucks at the Kentucky Truck assembly plant

Ford and UAW Local 62, a United Auto Workers local union, have come to a tentative agreement to avoid a strike at Ford’s most profitable plant in Kentucky. The local union had threatened to strike if their demands were not met.

A Resolution for Local Issues

The UAW announced that the deal resolves issues specific to the skilled trades, ergonomics, and health and safety. Ford expressed its satisfaction with the tentative agreement.

Ford’s Largest and Most Important Plant

The Kentucky plant is Ford’s biggest in terms of both employment and revenue. It is responsible for producing Ford Super Duty pickups, Ford Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigator SUVs. Avoiding a strike at this plant is crucial for both Ford and the local workers.

Ongoing Negotiations

While Ford and UAW Local 62 have reached an agreement, negotiations continue for several local contracts across the auto industry. General Motors and Stellantis are still in talks with the UAW. These local contracts differ from the national agreements ratified in late 2023 and focus on plant-specific issues.

Business Today will continue to monitor these developments and provide updates as negotiations progress.
