Former Chairman of Chư Sê District Under Investigation for Land Misconduct
On March 18th, it was reported by Tiền Phong that the Inspection Commission of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee has conducted an investigation into potential violations committed by Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Linh, former Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and former Chairman of Chư Sê District People’s Committee (2016-2021), as well as Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tâm, former Deputy Chairman of the Chư Sê District People’s Committee and former Chairman of the Compensation, Support, and Resettlement Council of Chư Sê District.
According to the source, both Mr. Linh and Mr. Tâm showed signs of misconduct in the process of compensation, land clearance, and resettlement for the construction project of the Hồ Chí Minh road, Chư Sê bypass.
The Hồ Chí Minh road construction project, which is 10.8 km in length, is overseen by Project Management Unit 6 of the Ministry of Transport, with a total investment of 248 billion VND. The Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Chư Sê District People’s Committee as the investor for the component project of compensation support and resettlement.
However, an inspection by the Gia Lai Department of Natural Resources and Environment revealed multiple violations in this project. Specifically, there were still unresolved complaints and petitions related to 70 households and individuals before and after the approval of the compensation plan. The main concerns included low land compensation prices and inadequate support policies during agricultural land recovery.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment in Gia Lai also concluded that the shortcomings, existence of violations, and defects were the result of the District People’s Committee’s lack of specialized agencies responsible for carrying out compensation and land clearance tasks.
