Jaguar to Discontinue All Gasoline Cars in June for Electric Production

Jaguar, the renowned car manufacturer, is making significant strides towards electric vehicle production. Over the past three years, the brand has been preparing for the transition to electric cars. In the United States, Jaguar’s current lineup includes the XF, E-Pace, F-Pace, F-Type, and I-Pace models.

According to a recent interview with Road & Track, Joe Eberhardt, the President and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, revealed that the company intends to cease the production of its current models before transitioning to a fully electric lineup.

Eberhardt explained, “The majority of our products will stop production in June of this year, but of course, the existing models will continue to be distributed for a much longer period.”

To ensure continuous supply until the launch of their new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) lineup, Jaguar has prepared a production plan. When transitioning to a fully electric lineup, Jaguar acknowledges the possibility of selling fewer cars than before. In 2017, the company sold nearly 180,000 cars and SUVs worldwide, but that number may decrease to around 50,000 with the release of their first new-generation electric models.

These three new electric models will be supported by the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform. The launch events will commence with a four-seater GT version this year and will hit the market in 2025. Known to be the most powerful Jaguar to date, this new model will offer a range of up to 692 km. The second EV based on the JEA platform will arrive at the end of 2025, while the third model is scheduled for release in 2026.
