Kia EV5: A Unique and Exciting SUV with a Starting Price of 920 Million VND
Kia EV5, which was introduced in China at the end of last year, has officially entered production in the country for export to other markets. This international journey will begin in Thailand and Australia, with other Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam, potentially following suit.
The international specifications of the Kia EV5 have not been fully disclosed, but the Chinese version provides a good reference. The car features the new N3 eK platform with front-wheel or all-wheel drive options. The use of lithium iron phosphate batteries helps reduce production costs. The Kia EV5 will be powered by a 215 horsepower single electric motor or a 308 horsepower dual motor.
Compared to the Sportage, the Kia EV5 is 45mm shorter in length but has a similar wheelbase, only 5mm shorter. On the other hand, it is 10mm wider and 55mm taller, which promises a more spacious and roomy cabin. The overhead cabin space is expected to be even larger than the EV6.
The interior of the Kia EV5 closely resembles the EV9, with a unique screen design. This is most evident in the dual 12.3-inch display on the dashboard and the small 5-inch touchscreen for climate control below. The steering wheel and central control cluster also share many similarities.
Some of the features of the Kia EV5 include a 3-zone automatic air conditioning system, satellite navigation, parking sensors, 360-degree camera, heated/ventilated front seats, and a 64-color interior ambient lighting system that synchronizes with the selected driving mode.
In a unique twist, the front seats of the Kia EV5 are connected in the middle. The low-mounted central control cluster includes a wireless phone charger and two cup holders.
In China, the Kia EV5 has a starting price of approximately 920 million VND. The car is currently undergoing testing by ANCAP, and Kia expects to achieve the highest 5-star safety rating.
