Lexus to Introduce New V6 Coupe, Replacing RC and LC Models

Lexus is preparing to retire its RC and LC models and replace them with a new V6 coupe. The RC, which debuted in 2014, has become a symbol of luxury but has started to show its age compared to its competitors. On the other hand, the newer Lexus LC is seen as more modern and luxurious in the overall market.

According to reports from Japan, Lexus is developing a new model that will not only replace both the RC and LC but also aim to reaffirm Lexus’ position in the luxury car market. The strategy is similar to what Mercedes-Benz did with the introduction of the CLE model, which replaced both the C-Class Coupe and E-Class Coupe.

The upcoming coupe will be entirely new and is expected to have similar dimensions to the LC. The naturally aspirated V8 5.0L engines found in the RC F and LC 500 will be removed, while the hybrid V6 3.5L powertrain from the LC will be retained and refined.

There is also a possibility that Lexus will introduce a special edition variant featuring a new twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine, similar to the ones found in the Lexus GX and Toyota Tundra 2024 models. An 8-speed automatic transmission is expected to be the only option, along with rear-wheel drive. The possibility of an all-wheel drive variant is still uncertain.

Like the current RC and LC, the new model will be a 2+2 coupe. The design is said to be youthful and elegant, with Lexus also considering the addition of a convertible variant. The sports coupe is projected to have a length of 4,800mm, a width of 1,900mm, a height of 1,350mm, and a wheelbase of 2,870mm.
