In Hoang Mai District, Hanoi, there is a growing concern about the transformation of many land plots designated for school construction projects into parking lots. This situation not only poses a threat to public safety but also undermines the urban landscape and leads to significant waste.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the student-to-class ratio in Hoang Mai District is higher than the average, with 50-60 students per class from kindergarten to high school. To address this issue, two land plots, F5/TH3 and F5/NT5, with an area of 0.49 hectares each, were planned for the construction of a kindergarten and a secondary school next to the Cultural, Information, and Sports Center in Hoang Mai District.
However, these land plots have been illegally transformed into parking lots, with the installation of fences and tin sheets to accommodate cars. Instead of fulfilling their intended purpose, these plots now house various businesses, causing chaos and conflicts among the owners. Moreover, the public has raised concerns about the high parking fees and the security risks associated with these illegal parking lots.
The issue has sparked significant frustration among residents in the area. To address this problem, the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to work closely with other relevant agencies and Hoang Mai District to address the issue promptly. The goal is to reclaim these abandoned land plots and utilize them for their original purpose of building schools.
In addition to the land plots designated for school construction, other green areas near the HH Linh Dam residential area have also been converted into parking lots, further deteriorating the urban landscape and reducing green spaces. This issue has raised concerns among the public, as the encroachment on public spaces not only affects the aesthetics of the area but also poses security and order risks.
It is essential for the authorities to take immediate action to resolve this issue by reclaiming the abandoned land plots and ensuring that they are used for their intended purpose. This will not only restore the urban landscape but also contribute to improving the quality of education in the district.
