Nissan Announces Affordable SUVs to Compete with Creta and Seltos
In an effort to expand its lineup in the affordable SUV segment, Nissan has announced the release of four new models in the near future. These new vehicles will target emerging markets such as India and will be built on the CMF-B platform, a collaboration between Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi.
Teaser Images Unveiled
Renault – Nissan has also released the first teaser images of their upcoming 5-seater SUVs. The Nissan SUV, in particular, boasts a completely new and unique design that sets it apart from other vehicles in the market. The iconic V-Motion grille, for instance, has been removed in favor of sleek LED headlights that connect to modern daytime running lights.
Specifications and Features
These upcoming Nissan SUVs will share the same platform as the Dacia Duster in Europe, allowing for cost savings. The 5-seater model is expected to offer engine options from the existing lineup, including a 1.6L hybrid with 138 horsepower and a 1.2L turbocharged hybrid with 128 horsepower.
Details about the 7-seater SUV are scarce. However, it is speculated to draw inspiration from the unreleased Dacia Bigster.
Competing with Established SUVs
By targeting emerging markets, Nissan’s 5-seater SUV will directly compete with popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate. Likewise, the 7-seater SUV has the potential to rival the Ford Explorer, Toyota Fortuner, and Hyundai Palisade.
Anticipation is high for these upcoming affordable SUVs from Nissan. If successful, they could further solidify Nissan’s position in the global SUV market.
