Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail Facelifts Set to Launch This Month, Competing with CX-5 and Tucson
Nissan is gearing up to launch the facelifted versions of the Qashqai and X-Trail/Rogue this month. These SUV models are expected to go head-to-head with popular competitors such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V.
A Refreshed Look for the Qashqai and X-Trail
The Qashqai, also known as the Rogue Sport, is a slightly smaller version of the Nissan X-Trail/Rogue. The facelifted Qashqai, unveiled in Europe in mid-April, will be followed closely by the X-Trail/Rogue. Given the shared platform and technical similarities between these models, it is likely that the updates made to the Qashqai will also be incorporated into the new X-Trail/Rogue.
The most noticeable change in the new Qashqai is its redesigned front end, featuring enhanced headlights and a wider grille. The lower front bumper has also been redesigned, incorporating larger triangular air intakes for a more pronounced 3D effect. The specific design of the grille is yet to be confirmed, as Nissan has stated that it will no longer use the V-Motion grille design.
In terms of exterior styling, the Qashqai sports new wheels and wider fender arches. However, details about the rear of the vehicle have not been revealed in the teaser video.
Interior Updates and Technology
The teaser video also provides a glimpse of the updated interior of the Qashqai. Although the video footage is somewhat dimly lit, it appears that the digital instrument cluster, 9-inch touchscreen display, and 10.8-inch head-up display will remain unchanged. However, the graphics and software of these infotainment systems are likely to receive updates. The dashboard materials also seem to have been upgraded.
Continuity in Powertrain Options
The powertrain options for both the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail/Rogue facelifts are expected to remain largely unchanged. These models already offer a range of engine options, so significant changes are not anticipated for this update. However, it is worth noting that Nissan has plans to introduce a fully electric version of the X-Trail in the near future, which will have a dedicated electric platform rather than being based on the conventional X-Trail platform.
Competing with Established Rivals
Both the Qashqai and X-Trail/Rogue have previously been available in the Vietnamese market but are no longer sold there. These models were positioned as direct competitors to the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. With the upcoming facelifts, Nissan aims to strengthen its position in the mid-size SUV segment and attract customers who value style, technology, and reliability.
