Posted on March 7, 2024 by Business Today
Porsche has recently revealed details about the upcoming Taycan, which is described as the most powerful car in the company’s history. This electric supercar is set to make its global debut on March 11th.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT
According to Motor1, the new model is called the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. The current most powerful version of the Taycan, the Turbo S, boasts an impressive 939 horsepower and over 1,100 Nm of torque, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds. Therefore, the Turbo GT is predicted to exceed 1,000 horsepower, making it the most powerful and fastest car ever produced by the German brand.
Aerodynamic Enhancements
The first images released by Porsche show that the Taycan Turbo GT will feature significant aerodynamic improvements, including a fixed rear wing. Additionally, the supercar will have an air splitter and integrated air curtains along with new alloy wheels.
Impressive Track Performance
During power testing, the Taycan Turbo GT, driven by race car driver Lars Kern, completed the Nurburgring track in a time of 7 minutes and 7.55 seconds. This achievement is a remarkable 26 seconds faster than the previous record set by Kern himself while driving the Porsche Taycan S Sport in 2022.
A Benchmark in Electric Performance
Kevin Giek, head of Taycan development at Porsche, stated that the Turbo GT truly reaches the pinnacle of electric cars, saying, “26 seconds is a significant improvement in the world of racing. This time is not only 18 seconds faster than the record set by the Tesla Model S Plaid (7:25:31) in June of last year, but it also puts the Taycan on par with other electric supercars.”
Advanced Technology and High Performance
As the flagship model of the Taycan range, positioned above the Turbo S and the standard Taycan, the Turbo GT offers upgrades in all areas, including extended range, faster charging, and higher overall performance. The car also features a larger and more powerful battery pack (105 kWh) and a new thermal management system to enhance efficiency.
Expected Pricing
Due to its advanced technology and enhanced performance, the Taycan Turbo GT is expected to come at a significantly higher price than the Turbo S, which starts at $210,995. Motor1 suggests that the latest Porsche electric car could have a price tag of around $250,000, putting it in similar territory as the Lucid Air Sapphire.
With the introduction of the Taycan Turbo GT, Porsche reaffirms its commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric performance and solidifies its position as a leading innovator in the automotive industry.
