President Biden “outraged” by Israel’s attack in Gaza
The recent airstrikes carried out by Israel in Gaza have drawn strong condemnation from President Joe Biden. His administration has expressed outrage at the loss of life and called for a swift investigation into the attack.
The Need for Accountability
According to the Associated Press, individuals working for the World Central Kitchen (WCK), a non-profit organization specializing in providing meals after natural disasters, were among those affected by the airstrikes.
President Biden emphasized the importance of conducting a prompt and thorough investigation to determine responsibility and ensure accountability. He stated that this incident is not an isolated case but one of the worst conflicts in recent history in terms of the loss of humanitarian aid workers’ lives.
The attack on the WCK convoy resulted in the deaths of citizens from Australia, the United Kingdom, Poland, Palestine, as well as a dual citizen of the United States and Canada.

Insufficient Protection by Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the attack as an unintended tragedy, and the Israeli military has pledged to conduct an independent investigation.
However, President Biden believes that Israel has not done enough to protect humanitarian aid workers and civilians in Gaza. The White House has expressed a commitment to continue pressuring Israel to allow more humanitarian assistance into the region.
Furthermore, a U.S. delegation in Cairo, Egypt, is actively working to facilitate a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Iran’s Retaliation
In a separate development related to Israel, Tehran retaliated for what it claims was an Israeli airstrike carried out a day earlier. The airstrike targeted Iran’s embassy in Damascus, Syria, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, including two Iranian officials and a member of the Hezbollah movement supported by Iran.
Israel has not confirmed its involvement in the aforementioned attack.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared, “We will make them regret this crime, as well as similar actions.”
Additionally, Robert Wood, the Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, urged Iran and its supported forces in the region, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, to de-escalate tensions and refrain from “resuming attacks on U.S. personnel.”
