Thủ tướng provides insights on the 10,000 billion VND spiritual tourism mega project

The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Phạm Minh Chính, recently shared his views on the investment in the Thanh Long Lake eco-resort (Hai Duong). In line with the provincial planning of Hai Duong from 2021 to 2030 and the adjustment of the general planning of Chi Linh City until 2040, Thanh Long Lake is set to be developed into an eco-resort. This ambitious project aims to revitalize the historical landmarks and cultural values of the Côn Sơn – Kiếp Bạc complex.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to ensure that the investment and development of Thanh Long Lake adhere to regulations and prevent any negative or corrupt practices. To oversee this project, the People’s Committee of Hai Duong province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will collaborate in creating a conservation and restoration plan for the special national heritage site, Côn Sơn – Kiếp Bạc.

The province of Hai Duong will actively coordinate with Bac Giang province to incorporate the opinions of relevant departments, such as Construction, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Natural Resources and Environment. The objective is to follow proper procedures and ensure that the investment and development of Thanh Long Lake remains corruption-free.

Situated at the heart of the Côn Sơn – Kiếp Bạc historical site, Thanh Long Lake was previously a gathering place for naval forces under the rule of the Tran Dynasty and served as a logistics base during the Vạn Kiếp fortification.

Currently, the lake spans across the Hung Dao, Le Loi, and a portion of Dan Hoi communes. The area is mostly underutilized, with only a small portion of land used for rice cultivation. The natural seafood resources in the lake are managed by the local government, while the deteriorating historical artifacts and the underdeveloped natural landscape have yet to be properly restored and preserved.

Recognizing the significance of this venture, the Department of Planning and Investment of Hai Duong province highlights the importance of investing in the Thanh Long Lake eco-resort to restore historical sites, revive traditional rituals, promote cultural values, and enrich the overall heritage of the Côn Sơn – Kiếp Bạc complex.

The Thanh Long Lake eco-resort project is envisioned to be a national and international tourist destination, offering various types of tourism experiences, including historical, cultural, spiritual, and ecological. The entire project encompasses an estimated area of 1,502 hectares, covering communes such as Hung Dao, Le Loi, and Cong Hoa.

Key components of the project include the construction and restoration of Buddhist pagodas, bell towers, and a focal point of three towers at Tam Ton Lake, connected by an underground tunnel system.

The proposed Thanh Long Lake eco-resort project, with an estimated investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND over a 10-year period, was initiated by private company Xuân Trường. Earlier, Xuân Trường signed a memorandum of understanding with the People’s Committee of Chi Linh City to explore investment opportunities in the eco-resort project.

Xuân Trường is known for its involvement in numerous spiritual tourism projects, with billions of VND invested in various northern provinces, including the Bai Dinh – Trang An complex (Ninh Binh), the Tam Chuc – Ba Sao tourist area (Ha Nam), the Cai Trap spiritual island (Hai Phong), and the Ho Nui Coc spiritual tourism complex (Thai Nguyen).
