Triệu hồi hàng loạt xe Toyota và Lexus tại Việt Nam do lỗi hộp số
Toyota Vietnam has initiated a recall program for over 1,300 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX 600 vehicles, starting from March 22nd. The specific list and quantity of affected vehicles are as follows:
According to Toyota, this recall is being conducted to update the automatic transmission control software on the affected Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX 600 vehicles. The issue causes the vehicles to move on their own while in neutral (N) mode.
Toyota explains that the transmission assembly in these vehicles uses a clutch piston to press the friction plates against the steel plates to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. When the transmission is shifted to the N position and the pressure is removed from the clutch piston, there is a possibility that the friction plates may not separate from the steel plates immediately, causing some engine power to continue to be transmitted to the wheels.
If this condition occurs while the vehicle is on a flat surface and the driver does not apply the brake or use the parking brake, the vehicle may move forward at a low speed (up to 6.4 km/h). However, this could increase the risk of accidents, posing a danger to individuals and surrounding vehicles.
As a result, Toyota has issued a recall for the affected vehicles. Customers who own the affected vehicles will receive an invitation to bring their vehicles to an authorized dealer for inspection. The company will update the transmission control software free of charge. The estimated time for inspection and repair/update is about 30 minutes per vehicle.
It is worth noting that Toyota Vietnam has also agreed to inspect and update non-genuine imported vehicles that are affected. Upon receiving a request from the vehicle owner, the company will verify the details. Once the issue is confirmed and approved, the authorized dealer will proceed with the inspection and update free of charge for the customer, similar to genuine vehicles.
In late February, Toyota also had to recall 280,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in the United States due to a similar transmission issue. The affected models include the Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and Lexus LX 600, produced from 2022 to 2024, while the Land Cruiser was not distributed in that country.
