VinFast Unexpectedly Raises Car Prices, Solely Due to the Charging Kit
VinFast, the Vietnamese automotive company, has recently made a surprising move by increasing the prices of its cars. The reason behind this unexpected decision is solely related to the charging kit that comes with the vehicles.
Higher Prices for Improved Charging Experience
According to the new adjustments, models such as VF e34, VF5, VF6, and VF7 Base will see an increase of 11 million VND, accompanied by a 7.4 kW charging kit. Meanwhile, VF8, VF9, and VF7 Plus models will have a price increase of 12 million VND, as they come with an 11 kW charging kit.
Unlike the previous 2.2 kW charging kit, the new 7.4 kW and 11 kW charging kits are fixed wall-mounted chargers. VinFast claims that providing customers with higher capacity charging kits will help save time during each charging process.
Before this adjustment, VinFast had already slightly increased the prices of some electric car models. The VinFast VF5 Plus is now listed at 479 million VND without the battery pack and 559 million VND with the battery pack. It remains the most attractive and competitively priced model in the Vietnamese electric car market.

VinFast VF e34 has also been adjusted to 721 million VND without the battery pack and 841 million VND with the battery pack. Meanwhile, the price range for VinFast VF6 is from 686 million VND to 776 million VND for rental with a battery pack and from 776 million VND to 866 million VND for purchasing a battery pack.
For VinFast VF7, the new listed prices range from 11 to 12 million VND, depending on the version and ownership form. Currently, the price without the battery pack for VF7 is between 861 million VND and 1.036 billion VND, while the price with the battery pack ranges from 1.010 billion VND to 1.236 billion VND.
As for the special version of the SUV VF8 with CATL battery, the price increase is up to 12.5 million VND. The price without the battery pack for the VF8 with CATL battery ranges from 1.157 billion VND to 1.346 billion VND, while the price with the battery pack ranges from 1.367 billion VND to 1.556 billion VND. The VF8 version with SDI battery remains unchanged, with a price range of 1.090 billion VND to 1.270 billion VND without the battery pack, and 1.290 billion VND to 1.470 billion VND with the battery pack.
VF9, the only electric model that has not seen a price increase, is currently priced between 1.491 billion VND and 2.292 billion VND, depending on the version and ownership form.

Adjusting to the Market’s Needs and Production Situation
In the current market landscape (March 2024), as the Vietnamese automotive industry experiences fluctuations, with some brands and companies adjusting their retail prices to meet real demand and production circumstances, VinFast has made a subtle price increase. While most businesses and dealerships are implementing discount programs ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of VND, VinFast has quietly raised its prices, albeit insignificantly.
For example, Volkswagen Viloran and Teramont X increased their prices by 20 million VND starting from March 6th, but this increase only applies to certain color options. Conversely, Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Vietnam are currently running a series of price reductions for various models, particularly for remaining inventory produced in 2022, which will receive even higher incentives. Fifteen versions from the C-Class, E-Class, GLA, GLB, GLE, and V-Class series are offered at a discount ranging from 210 million VND to over 700 million VND.
Amidst these waves of price adjustments, VinFast’s car prices have remained relatively stable. However, customers still anticipate future exclusive offers from the company.
