The Discovery and Investigation
On March 27, local residents noticed the two cars parked on the sidewalk of Vo Liem Son Street and promptly captured images of them using their smartphones. These photos were then shared on social media platforms. Responding to the public’s concern, the authorities swiftly launched an investigation.
The Ford Laser 5-seater, bearing the license plate 38A-1169, was registered under the name of the Ha Tinh Youth Vocational Training and Employment Service Center (affiliated with the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union).
The Sales and Discrepancies
Furthermore, the Toyota Hiace 12-seater, also with the license plate 38A-1169, previously belonged to the Department of Transport in Nghệ An Province. It originally had a different license plate, 37A-1989, with a green background and white letters and numbers. The vehicle was deregistered on July 10, 2023, and subsequently sold at auction to Mr. Hoang Van Hoa, a resident of Hung Tay Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghệ An Province.
Mr. Hoa then sold the vehicle to Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan, who resides in To Dan Pho 5, Ha Huy Tap Ward, Ha Tinh City. During the transfer process, the registration plate was not changed.
Clarifying the Situation
In his conversation with the authorities, Mr. Tuan explained that he had used an additional set of green license plates (38A-1169) for his Toyota Hiace to facilitate viewings and discussions for potential buyers, rather than for actual traffic purposes.
