Xiaomi SU7 Electric Car Criticized by Consumers, Xiaomi Chairman Explains in Video

Xiaomi SU7 Max at Qualcomm event

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, recently unveiled its first electric car, the Xiaomi SU7 Max, at a product launch event hosted by Qualcomm. The SU7 Max immediately caught the attention of onlookers, but it also faced criticism from consumers who claimed that the rear seating space was cramped. In response to these concerns, Lu Weibing, the Chairman of Xiaomi China, personally addressed the issue by releasing a video on the social media platform Weibo.

Weibing explained that the perception of cramped space in the rear seats was a result of the front seats being adjusted to their maximum positions. To clarify the matter, he shared a short video showcasing the interior space of the SU7. In the video, it is evident that when the front seats are in their normal positions, the rear seating area of the Xiaomi SU7 provides ample legroom, with even more space than expected. Weibing, who is 1.78 meters tall, clearly showcases the comfort and spaciousness of the car.

Just a few days ago, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that pre-orders for the SU7 have surpassed 100,000, indicating strong demand for Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle.

While the official price of the Xiaomi SU7 has not been announced yet, rumors suggest that the company is targeting the mid to high-end market segment. The price is estimated to range from 250,000 to 370,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately 858 million to 1.27 billion Vietnamese Dong). The car will be available in two versions: a single motor version with 299 horsepower and a dual motor version with 673 horsepower, offering a range of 668 to 800 kilometers.
