Nga Arrests 11th Suspect in Moscow Terror Attack
Russian authorities have announced the arrest of the 11th suspect in the terrorist attack that took place in Moscow on March 23rd. According to reports from RT, the Basmanny District Criminal Court in Moscow has detained Muhammad Zoir Sharipzoda, a Tajikistani national, on charges of carrying out a deadly terrorist act. However, the exact role that Sharipzoda played in the attack has not been disclosed by law enforcement officials.
The Basmanny District Criminal Court has ordered the detention of Sharipzoda until at least May 22nd. Russian media speculates that he was involved in the preparation of the attack, but no specific details have been provided. This development comes just one day after the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the arrest of three additional suspects, including two foreigners and one Russian citizen, all of Central Asian origin.
According to security agencies, one of the suspects detained on April 4th is believed to have direct ties to the recruitment of the four gunmen allegedly responsible for the attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue. The individual is also suspected of providing financial support for the operation. Two others were involved in the purchase of weapons and vehicles used by the attackers.
It remains uncertain whether Sharipzoda is one of the individuals apprehended on April 4th. The concert hall assault, which resulted in the loss of over 140 lives, saw four gunmen storm the venue, opening fire on the crowd before setting the hall ablaze. The main perpetrators were captured within hours of the incident.
The FSB has reported a total of 11 arrests in the days following the attack.
