TCI to Develop and Operate Egypt’s First Bulk Cement Export Silo Terminals in Arish and Portsaid

Transcargo International (TCI), an esteemed terminal operator in Egypt, has recently partnered with Sinai White Portland Cement in Arish and Arabco International Group in Portsaid to establish Egypt’s maiden bulk cement silo terminals. This momentous collaboration marks a significant milestone in Egypt’s cement industry and its exporting capabilities.

A Boost to Egypt’s Cement Industry

As per the terms of the agreement, TCI will construct and manage a white cement silo terminal with an annual capacity exceeding 200,000 tons for Sinai White Portland Cement. Additionally, a gray cement terminal with an approximate yearly capacity of 600,000 tons will be built for Arabco International Group in Portsaid. These terminals will facilitate the smooth export of the companies’ products to various international markets. By reducing logistics, transportation, and packaging costs, the silo terminals will enhance the competitiveness of Sinai White Portland Cement and Arabco International Group, providing them with significant cost savings.

Key Details of the Projects

The bulk terminal project at Arish Port will comprise six cement silos, with a total storage capacity of 60,000 tons (10,000 tons each). Two silos will be dedicated to white Portland cement, while the remaining four silos will store gray Portland cement. On the other hand, the Portsaid Port bulk terminal project will feature three cement silos, with a combined storage capacity of 36,000 tons (12,000 tons each) for gray Portland cement.

Strengthening Egypt’s Export Competitiveness

TCI’s objective with these cement silo terminals is to streamline cement exports, reduce costs, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian cement exports in the global market. Ms. Nada El Ahwal, TCI’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized that this project aligns with their commitment to support Egyptian exports by providing specialized logistics solutions across various industries. By building and operating Egypt’s first bulk cement terminal, they anticipate cost savings for cement producers in Egypt, resulting in globally competitive prices and increased market penetration.
