New Motivation, New Resources for Nha Trang’s Development

On March 31st, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha approved the revised general planning project for Nha Trang City until 2040.

A New Direction for Nha Trang

According to Nguyen Hai Ninh, a member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, the revised general planning project for Nha Trang City until 2040 is a significant milestone, opening up a new vision and direction for both Nha Trang City and Khanh Hoa Province as a whole. With this approved plan, Nha Trang City will have more favorable conditions and a solid foundation to become a prosperous, civilized, and happy city, making Khanh Hoa Province a new standard for quality of life, work, and tourism.

The approved plan aims to transform Nha Trang into a green, clean, and sustainable coastal city with diverse, national and international standard tourism services, combined with unique natural, cultural, and ecological values. It strives to gradually become a national and Southeast Asia-level commercial and financial city.

Additionally, the city’s urban model will be organized into multiple centers, with a focus on the coastal urban area and centers connected to landscape areas, main urban axes, and unique ecological systems. The urban development direction will expand the construction space towards the north, northwest, west, south, and east.

According to Tran Dinh Thien, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics, Nha Trang is creating new motivation for a new competition. This is an opportunity to realize the idea of developing Vietnam’s homeland.

Tran Dinh Thien also expressed his viewpoint on Nha Trang’s competition, stating that it is not with any city in Vietnam but with the world, competing internationally. “Nha Trang needs to propose a pilot model for a smart and creative city. It must identify itself as a coastal city, constructing a city of culture and international stature, becoming the capital of the centrally governed city, a center of the sub-region… with national-level significance.”

Creating a New Quality of Life

Tran Minh Tung, Head of the Department of Civil Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Hanoi University of Construction, acknowledged that among the coastal cities in Central Vietnam, Nha Trang has always been considered a “special” destination due to having beautiful coastlines combined with culturally rich rivers. It has much potential for development as a city.

Currently, Nha Trang is experiencing rapid advancements towards becoming a top destination in the region. Alongside capitalizing on its natural beauty, the city has implemented infrastructure and service plans to meet international standards. Nha Trang not only focuses on high-end accommodation, entertainment, and unique coastal-related services but also develops new urban models, especially coastal cities. The approved revised general planning project for Nha Trang City until 2040 confirms this.

One notable recent project is Libera Nha Trang – an internationally recognized coastal city with its own beach located in central Nha Trang along Tran Phu Street. Covering an area of 44 hectares, Libera Nha Trang is expected to become a new unmissable center for domestic and international tourists, as well as the city’s residents. It offers a range of experiences such as accommodation, resort stays, entertainment, shopping, and unique cultural attractions like the Vansan Dao Park, Puppet Theater, and the bustling “downtown” area.

“The development resources for Nha Trang are its human resources, superior infrastructure, and system. Nha Trang is facing new challenges and a new game. To further develop, Nha Trang needs to turn these challenges into opportunities; the government’s challenges into opportunities for enterprises, thereby creating development motivation,” emphasized Tran Dinh Thien.
